We're getting new pets!

This is what we are doing over fall break:

VERMICOMPOSTING! YAY!

Justin and I normally make about bag of garbage every three to four days and most of it is food scraps/peelings etc.  After watching this video a few times, worm composting really seems like a better way to steward our waste. So far, we've picked up a bin, collected some paper and started looking for places to order worms!

Perhaps the best reason we found for vermicomposting is that it takes scraps we would just throw away and turns it into nutrient rich materiel that helps the microecologies in soil to make plants healthy!  We plan to share vermicompost with our neighbors who have potted plants and then use the rest in the Dotson's garden.

Plus, we'll get 600 little pets!
