Words only mean things because we associate ideas and images with them.
Some people have a strong reaction to certain words. Perhaps they have hard things in their past that they associate with those words, ideas, and concepts.
We ought to learn to speak slowly. It takes gracious, active listening to really hear another person's heart.
"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry." James 1.19
