It was one of those interactions that only happen every once in a while, but I keep laughing about for a long time.
So I was running the front register at Starbucks the other day, and a guy in scrubs walked in with a big name tag that said "PA" after his name. Since Justin is on track to go to PA school, I asked him if he was a physicians assistant, to which he replied that he was still a student going to UW Spokane. I asked him what the application process was like, and he offered to give me his e-mail so that Justin could ask him some questions. Naturally, I accepted; he was a very nice young man who just wanted to be helpful.
While my PA friend was writing his information on the back of a receipt, an elderly gentleman walked in and ordered a drink. While this man was paying, my PA friend handed me his information and then left. The old man looked suspiciously at the PA student and then at me as I tucked the receipt into my pocket. He placed a dollar bill on the counter and said with one eyebrow raised,
"Buy yourself some pepper spray, sweetheart."
My co-workers and I laughed for a long time! Its so easy to look at a situation and assume you know what is going on. As ironic as that event was, its good to know people are looking out for me.
ahaha! wonderful.
